The groups are drawn and have been announced on ESL TV just minutes ago. The Counter-Strike 1.6 Championship in Europe is about to start. Starting from now these teams will compete for slots to the European Championship Finals, where a total of $50,000 are at stake.

The European Championship expands by six more players. In mid-October two last chance cups open for everyone will be held, determining three players each. Due to short notice announcements some players missed their national qualifiers. Since we want to have the best competition possible at Intel Extreme Masters, these cups were a necessary consequence.

18 teams survived the first Qualification Round of the European Championship. These teams will now clash with 18 more teams, which were already seeded into the second Qualification Round before. Only the winners of these matches will advance to the groupstage. Will your nation be represented in the European Championship? Decisions will be made on Thursday!

Yesterday we gave you an overview about all European Counter-Strike participants as well as the national qualification tournaments. Today we look after the the two remaining disciplines, StarCraft II and Quake Live. Most of the national tournaments are over, only a few spots are still vacant and will be filled in the next days.

The European Championship is getting really close, since all national qualifiers have to end on September 12th. While the participants of thirteen countries were already determined by their national ESL Pro Series, several countries held qualification tournaments.
