Our very first Intel Extreme Masters Pro/Am Challenge will take place on the GamesCom fair in Cologne on the 21st of August. There eight players will have the chance to win $1.000 and to win one of the first Quake Live live event tournaments. As preparation for that event we will have two qualification cups, in each of them you can win a spot for the final tournament on GamesCom. The last four spots for the tournament will be awarded to the first four sign ups on our booth.

Intel Extreme Masters Pro/Am Challenge

The Quake Live Intel Extreme Masters Pro/Am Challenge will be played on Friday, 21st August while we will keep the Grand Final for Saturday, 22nd August. The winner of the tournament will also take home $1.000. The grand final will be shown live on stage and on ESL TV.

A total of eight players will take part in the tournament, four players will come from the online qualification cups and four players can sign up directly at the fair. The sign up will be located on our booth, the ESL Intel Gamezone, there will be an event login computer. The first four players to sign up there will be invited to take part in the tournament, if they can’t be reached at the start of the tournament, the next signed up player will be invited. Sign up will start with open-doors on Friday, the second public visitors’ day.

Qualification Cups

There will be two qualification cups, both will be single elimination and best-of-three. The top two of each cup will be qualified for the Intel Extreme Masters Pro/Am Challenge on Gamescom. Due the lack of time, both cups are scheduled to be played completely on one day.

Quake Live 1on1 IEM Pro-Am Challenge Qualification #1

Date: Wednesday, 12.08.09 8.00pm to 11.30pm
Number of Participants: 32 players
Gamesettings: Duel, Best of Three
Timelimit: 10 Minutes per Map
Mappool: Campgrounds Redux (qzdm6), Lost World (qzdm13), Vertical Vengeance (tourney4), Furious Heights (tourney7), Blood Run (ztntourney1)

Signups are already open and will close one hour before the first round. Up to 64 players can sign up, but all signed up players have to confirm their participation with a checkin, thirty minutes before the start of the first round. The first 32 players to check in will take part in the cup. The check in will last from 7:30pm to 7:50pm.

Up to 128 players can sign up, but all signed up players have to confirm their participation with a checkin, thirty minutes before the start of the first round. The first 64 players to check in will take part in the cup. The check in will last from 5:30pm to 5:50pm.

Meeting Point

Meeting point for all players is #esl.quakelive at QuakeNet. All players have to be there during cup times, players that won't show up in the channel will receive a forfeit loss. In the channel we will also announce more details about the cup schedule and will help you with problems.
